Why
Volunteer?
Our
mission at In The Lord's Service is to show Christ's love to others through
personal acts of service. It was Jesus Himself who set the example for
us to serve each other in love. By our serving others, we are allowing
the Spirit of Christ to work through us to help, comfort and draw others
to Him. Not many people are helped by someone who is not a family member,
friend or someone paid for their services.
Who
We Serve
ITLS
is here to serve anyone who is in need of help. We provide one-on-one
service to people going through a tough time in their lives. We do not
discriminate for any reason. There are times in all our lives when we
need the touch and comfort of another caring person.
Services
Performed
ITLS
volunteers only perform nonprofessional services. We do things that everyday
folks can do. We provide rides to doctors offices and meals to families
that are grieving or going through a crisis. We shovel driveways for the
elderly and provide handyman services to those unable to provide for themselves.
We sit with the sick or injured so their caretakers can get errands done
and we teach basic life skills to those wanting to learn to help themselves.
These are just a few of the services we provide.
Each volunteer
signs up for only those services they enjoy doing and are spiritually
gifted to perform.
I'm
Too Busy to Volunteer
ITLS
is designed to work with busy people. When you sign up to be a volunteer
you tell us how often you want to serve and we will abide by this. Our
volunteers can sign up to serve as often as 8 hours a day to as little
as one hour every six months. Our software keeps track of this and lets
us know how many hours are available for each volunteer at all times.
Requirements
to be a Volunteer
ITLS
is a Christian ministry and all our volunteers are required to be professing
Christians. We have a Statement of Faith that each
new volunteer signs when joining the ministry. Our mission is to show
Christ's love to others through personal acts of service. A person cannot
show Christ's love to others unless Christ is living within him.
We do not
have an age requirement for volunteers. Children can sign up with us as
long as their parents are also volunteers. Children will never be asked
to serve on their own, but can partner with their parents. Children can
play a valuable role making cards for sick or grieving people and working
with their parents to provide a meal for a person in need.
Each volunteer
attends a 45 minute training session, where we teach them more about the
ministry. At this time they sign up for services, sign the statement of
faith and fill out a consent for for a Colorado Background Investigation.
Where
We Volunteer
In
The Lord's Service is currently serving in the Teller County area in Colorado.
If you live in this area and would like to be a volunteer, then fill in
